Achieving crisp detail, sharp radii, and textured finishes for premium industrial enclosures.
Utilising positive air pressure for unmatched surface definition
Pressure forming represents the pinnacle of thermoforming technology, building upon our core vacuum forming expertise to deliver significantly higher levels of detail. While standard vacuum forming relies solely on atmospheric pressure, our pressure forming process introduces compressed air to the non-mould side of the heated plastic sheet. This additional force drives the material deeper into the tool, allowing us to replicate sharp corners, intricate textures, and recessed features that were previously only possible with expensive injection moulding.
Replicating the premium finish of high-cost steel tooling
This process is specifically engineered for components that require a retail-ready or premium automotive finish. By forcing the substrate against the temperature-controlled mould, we achieve consistent wall thickness and a surface quality that is ideal for painted or textured finishes. This makes it the preferred choice for visible exterior panels in luxury automotive applications and high-end housings for the medical and electronics sectors.
Bridging the gap between prototyping and high-volume production
Operating from our 45,000 sq/ft Birmingham facility, we provide a cost-effective alternative for projects that demand high-definition parts but do not justify the massive capital expenditure of injection moulding tools. Pressure forming tools are typically single-sided and more economical to produce, allowing for faster lead times and greater design flexibility during the development cycle.
Secondary processes for a line-ready final component
The precision of a pressure-formed part is further enhanced by our high-speed 5-axis CNC routers. Once the part is formed, we use these advanced machines to provide accurate trimming, hole-cutting, and complex aperture routing with tolerances measured to the micron.
Whether you have a finalised design or a complex engineering challenge, our team is ready to provide the technical expertise and manufacturing precision you need.
